What is the most difficult part of being an assistant and how to overcome it?
The most difficult part of being an assistant is monitoring and ensuring overall organization at work and efficient time management. As an Executive PA, I have been entrusted with various responsibilities. These extend to monitoring tasks to be affected at the place of work as well as attending to the day-to-day private errands of my superior. I believe that confidence and consistency are key characteristics at work. An essential skill that I have developed is planning my work on a weekly basis and then organizing my tasks day by day. From my experience, I have learned that setting a list of priorities and deadlines is a more efficient, organized, and focused way to work.
What is the most important part of my working day?
The most important part of my workday is seeing that everything is happening as per schedule. The first thing I do in the morning is brief my superior on what we have planned for the day. This helps us both have a clear idea of how the day will go. I always keep a checklist of my priorities for the day/week thus this helps me follow the plan of the day and execute accordingly.
My best calendar management tip
My best calendar management tip is to use online calendars. They have excellent tools for accessing and planning your schedule easily. Using colors to organize your online calendar will only be helpful if you can tell them apart. For example, I use blue for work-related events and red for personal events. It is easier to have an efficient color-coding system in which each clearly distinct color represents a different form of event/activity.
